Utah Woman Charged With Murdering Fetus

Oh man. This is scary. The woman is charged with murder for choosing NOT to have a caesarian section, because the doctors said the fetus would die without it.

    Wow, my preliminary feeling is that there's no way a full murder charge is justified. It doesn't sound like she received proper medical counselling or sound medical advice (ie disclosure re: types of c-sections, the nature of the procedure, restorative options, etc.), and that her doctors -- if they were so convinced that the babies were in jeopardy -- should have alerted the authorities and brought the courts in *before* hand to deal with the situation. A murder charge at this point seems like a severe case of medical naval gazing and responsibility buck passing.
